Match postponed

Team,

We have had to postpone this Saturdays match due to an unplayable pitch. The recent rain is likely to continue and cause further damage to our pitch. I will seek to rearrange the match with Malpas as soon as poss.

Our next game is away at Nomads so I will update you closer to the time. Training is on next wednesday at 6pm.

Please let me know if you are going to the Xmas party at Chester City as it is likely to clash with our next match.

NO TRAINING TONIGHT

Team

There is no training tonight. The match on Saturday against Malpas requires a pitch inspection Thursday/Friday. Please watch this space. If it continues to be frosty then we will need to postpone. If we do play then Paul will be managing the team. I need to ask you all to come fully prepared for the cold. Gloves, hats, woolly vests, tracksuit bottoms…the works. Parents/supporters…could you bring a flask or two! (hot choc not whiskey)

The goals will need to go up and be taken down. I would suggest you get there for 10.15am for an 11a.m KO.

Keep warm!

Training

Team,

Just a reminder that training will be on at Christleton High School from 5.45pm till 7pm Wednesday.

Hope you can all make it. Paul and Robbie will be leading it.

I am trying to re-schedule the Chester Nomads game on the 13th Dec as it clashed with our Xmas do. However at the moment I have only had a couple of forms back. Could you let me know by Wednesday if you are coming on this trip as it may not be necessary to change this fixture.

This coming Saturday we are away at Blacon Ladies. Kick Off 10.30am. I will aim to give you directions to the venue as soon as I have them myself.

See you wednesday

AFC Waverton Ladies V Chester City Ladies

Match on Saturday 15th November

AFC Waverton Ladies V Chester City Ladies

Kick Off 11am

Venue: Queens Field, Waverton

Team

Please be there from 10.30am. Let’s aim to be well prepared and ready for action. If you are likely to be late please ring Paul on 07877 000394

Those girls who have just joined the team please let me know if you are able to play. I have your kits. Also could you make sure that those of you who haven’t passed me their paperwork yet do so either tonight or at the latest Saturday. I also need to know if you want to attend the Xmas do. Reply slips and payment required asap.

Please could you sort out the nets, corner flags and ropes if you get there early? I won’t be there until later as I have to be in Christleton for my lad’s match which kicks off at 10.30am.  The pitch may be prepared for us because the U16’s are playing before us….but I’m not 100% sure.

Paul will be there to manage the team. Come in full kit and remember to bring a drink. Please let Paul know if you are not available for Saturday.

Good luck

Simon

Finally….I had to pack all the nets, corner flags, ropes etc up myself last week….could do with some assistance this week please.

Training

Training tonight

Team,

Am still trying to overcome my disappointment about last week’s narrow defeat against Nomads. Bet you are too!!

You played exceptionally well as a team but inevitably were affected by their continuous substitutions! And our lack of them!

We will hopefully have a full team available for our return match against Chester City. With a full strength team I know we can bounce back after last week. Remember the City game was our first together (they have been together for 3 years!) and they also played an extra player until 10 minutes from the end. Paul said you played them off the park when numbers were even….remember that on Saturday.

Training at Christleton Sports Centre tonight. Please be there from 5.45pm and bring a drink. Paul and Robbie will be coaching you.

Have a good one

Simon

Saturday- AFC Waverton Ladies v Chester Nomads

Team,

AFC Waverton Ladies V Chester Nomads

Kick Off- 11am

Venue: Waverton Queens Field

Please be there for 10.30am at the latest.

If supporters arrive early could they get the nets out of the lock up and start putting them up please.

On Saturday Paul Cleaworth will manage the team and I will be his assistant. He spoke to me last night and aims to be at Waverton for 10.30am.

Liggy is unavailable to play so we will need to rotate goalkeeping duties again. Lia has agreed to play half the match in goal but we need a volunteer for the next half.

I am expecting a very close game and if we win we are likely to stay second in the League. Please turn up expecting to do well…and we will as long as you listen to Paul and work hard for each other. You did brilliantly well in the last match…but this will be a very different proposition that will require full concentration, good team spirit and bit a skill.

Good luck

Simon

Indoor training wed 5th

Team,

Hope you have all had a good break and are fit and well to resume our season. This Wednesday we are at Christleton High School indoors from 6pm-7pm. We need to be there for 5.45pm please. You need trainers and a drink.

Our match on Saturday is against Chester Nomads and will be at home on the same pitch we played on against Blacon. Please make sure you come in your full kit. I have ordered the new team members their kit but I have been informed it won’t be ready for this Saturday. So those girls without kit please try to find a yellow top for this coming weekend. I will try to sort out some yellow bibs also. Apologies for this but the order was placed some time ago.

Please be there for 10.30am at the latest. The nets, rope and corner flags will need to go up in advance.

Cheers

Simon

You have made the papers!

Check out the Chester Standard!!

Team,

You have made the local paper with your stunning result last Saturday! Hopefully the first of many.  There isn’t any training session at half term so we will next meet up on the 5th November. This will be 6pm at Christleton High School. Bring indoor trainers.

Have a good break….time to recover and be back ready for the Nomads match on Saturday 8th.

Training Wednesday

Training on Wednesday

Hi Team,

Hope you have arrived down from the clouds after last Saturdays stunning performance! Well done to you all without exception.

Hard work,  good team spirit and commitment really doe’s pay off!

Anyway…this coming Wednesday there will be training with Robbie Mills at 5.30pm Waverton Queens Field. Try to be there on time but again I appreciate this may be harder for some of you. There is no game this coming Saturday…which in some ways is a pity after last weekend. Our next fixture is on the 8th November and will be at home against Chester Nomads. Kick off time to be confirmed. Please let me know as soon as possible if you can’t make this game. There won’t be training at half term but when we start back we will be indoors at Christleton High School 6pm-7pm (weds)

I am hopeful that one or two of our new players will be registered by then and in a position to strengthen our squad.

Those of you still not registered with the league and club must bring the forms and payment this Wednesday please. It requires two passport photos and a copy of your birth certificate/passport along with the signed forms. If you have any questions let me have them.

Thanks

Simon

Saturdays match

AFC Waverton Ladies U14 v Malpas Ladies

We shall be kicking off at 11am this coming Saturday at Malpas Sports Club. They wish to play 9v9 so this will be the first time we have had even numbers to play against.  After last Wednesdays training session I think we can win this one…and you should do too.

If you google map “Malpas Sports Club” the venue will be shown.

The directions are as follows:

From Chester on the A41 towards Whitchurch take the B5069 (at a mini roundabout third exit) signed Malpas. Follow this road past the High School (Bishop Heber on your right) until you come to the T junction in the village. Turn left into the high street. Take your first right up the hill past the church on your right. Follow this road until the village ends and on the right is the Sports club. If lost then ring me on 07831 347257. It is important to be there for 10.30am at the latest please. Please come in full kit, boots and a drink.

Please email, text or phone if you need lifts by Friday evening.

Cheers

Simon

mageeans@tiscali.co.uk

PS Those girls who have recently come to training are welcome to attend (please feel free to bring boots and come in kit if you wish to play)

Todays game

AFC Waverton Ladies 1: Blacon Youth Ladies 6

Team,

I have to say that this may be my one and only game as your Manager (collective sigh of relief)…and it was a belter!!

I couldn’t fault you in all departments. Lia in goal was superb, Cara, Zoe and Ellie at the back had excellent games, Ellen, Charlotte, Issy, Olivia and Liggy….you played your hearts out in midfield and at times showed class, technique and a real spirit…and Nicola up front you had a “stormer” and never stopped running. Please be patient…you have the ability and I promise you it will start to come together over time.

Ok praise over…there were one or two unforced errors but most of these came as you grew tired with nobody on the bench to come on. Olivia, Liggy and Ellie played with injuries….not something I would countenance….but girls I you did us proud this week. Charlotte…you need to rest your ankle and I don’t expect to see you are training on Wednesday (at least not with your boots on)

We can only improve and get stronger as a unit as you recover to full strength with one or two new players join us. Your first half performance today was the best I have seen you play and you more than matched the opposition. Blacon are an excellent team and we held our own for most of this game….the score line was harsh.

Next weeks training is at the earlier time of 5.30pm. Please try to be there promptly but I appreciate how hard this might be for some of you travelling further….just do your best.

Next week (18th October) we are away in Malpas (KO 10.30am) Details will be put on the web as soon as I have them. Let’s try to car share if poss…

Regards

Simon

Saturday 11th October AFC Waverton Ladies V Blacon Ladies

U 14 AFC Waverton Ladies v Blacon Ladies

On Saturday please try to arrive for 10.30am. The match is to be played on the same pitch as you trained on but you may have to wait until it is vacated by the previous match.

Kick Off is 11am and we have a referee lined up.

The nets should be up for us. It seems that we will have 9 in the team so again we will be without subs. I am hopeful that Paul will be there to meet you at 10.30am. I shall also be there from the start but need to leave just after KO to be at my sons U9 match in Christleton. Please come in full kit. The kit I have ordered still hasn’t arrived at Queensferry Sports so we are cutting it fine. If any of you have a spare yellow football top or T shirt please can you bring it along….these are the teething problems I mentioned in my letter!

Some help with taking nets down at the end would also be appreciated.

Good luck!

Under 14 AFC Waverton Ladies

Training (8th October) and match (11th October)

Dear Team

Training will be from 6pm at Waverton Queens Field on Wednesday (next to the village hall/primary school) Everyone welcome.  Please arrive 5 mins early if you can so we can be ready for Robbie to start at 6pm. I have ordered the kit you require for Saturday and will hopefully be collecting it on Friday. I say hopefully as there have been some delays with getting hold of kit from our suppliers. I shall also be bringing along AFC Waverton registration forms for those of you who haven’t yet registered or paid your subs. It’s important for us to sort this out promptly (if you haven’t done so already) The subs are £70 (less if a brother/sister also plays) for the full season (including Chester & District League fees/registration, insurance, kit and refs fees) There is also an additional charge of £2.50 per week to cover coaching and winter indoor training costs. If you need any more information on this please give me a ring or drop me a line.

The match against Blacon Ladies will kick off at the later time of 11am. We are at home (playing on the ¾ pitch where you train) The car park will be very congested at this time so if you need to park in the village please do so carefully and considerately for the sake of local relations. We shall aim to meet at 10.30am.

I will need to know who can’t play by tomorrow’s training please.

Good luck

Simon

Training 8th October

Team,

Excellent training session last night….well done!

You are all really coming on well under Robbie’s coaching. We don’t plan to train this Saturday so our next session will be 8th October 6pm-7pm at the Queens Field, Waverton. Depending on weather and how quickly the nights draw in we shall be indoors later this month. Watch this space for details.

Our next match is Saturday 11th October and will, be against Blacon Ladies. We will be playing this fixture at home (where we train) and the KO is provisionally set at 11am. I need to confirm that this is ok with the opposition. You will need to be there for 10.15am to meet with your coach. However it will be a busy time so if parking please do so carefully and considerately. Please let me know if you aren’t able to play in the match as soon as possible.

Please keep up with the recruitment drive …we have already had three new players approach us this week so things are looking up. Keep your spirits high and see you at training next week.

All the best

Simon

AFC Waverton Ladies v Chester City Ladies

Team

Today’s performance was a real credit to you. Paul was extremely impressed by your attitude, skill levels and willingness to fight for your team. The referee came over to me at the end and said you were all a credit to your club. Whilst the result wasn’t great it was completely understandable bearing in mind early injuries and the fact you played with one less player almost to the end. We have the makings of a really good team if we can stay together and remain positive. Please bear with us for the next few weeks until we get a full strength squad. Remember this was your first game together and we are all on a steep learning curve.

We will hopefully be welcoming Liggy back soon and we also need to try to recruit a few more players. Do your best at school to encourage friends to come along to Wednesday night training.

We shall be training at the usual venue next Wednesday between 6pm and 7pm.

Well done team. When they finally agreed to go 8 v 8 you were the better team.

10.30am Kick off reinstated!!!

This is becoming a bit of a struggle! Please be at Upton Sports Centre for 10am (original time)

Chester City have organised the referee for 10.30am now so we need to be there at the original time of 10am.

The League Sec had told us 11am but it appears this hasn’t filtered through to all teams.

I can only apologise for this…but it’s becoming a bit of thankless task!

Hopefully once we get into the swing of things it will run smoothly!!

Let’s get out there and play some good football.

Simon

Team,

Please note that Kick Off on Saturday has been pushed back to 11am but please come for 10.15am so we can warm up properly and meet Paul

We shall be playing Chester City Ladies on Saturday. Please arrive for 10.15am to meet with Paul Cleaworth who will be taking charge of the team for Saturday matches. I believe some of you have already met Paul. He is an experienced coach and a colleague of Robbie’s. Please come in full kit. I will be collecting the additional kit on Friday and will make sure it is with you on the day. The changing rooms should be available. Kick Off will be 11am (it has been pushed back by the league) We have been informed that the league will be played across the hockey pitches and not on the small 5 a side pitches some of you played on last year. It will be Astroturf so no studded boots allowed. Bring a drink and a chocolate bar…we won’t have any sub’s this week!

The games will be 35min each way.

Good luck!

Saturday 12th April

We're going to try and miss the crowds and start training at 9.30

We hope to be having matches on 19th and 26th April and a few more in May.

Do we have interest in a re-match of the Ladies v. Others (mums, cousins, sisters, aunites and ringers)? Preferably before the ground gets too hard!

We will continue to play to the end of June and Lee is doing coaching sessions on Wednesday evenings at 6.00. These are in addition to the Saturday sessions and we understand that not everyone can get there.

Subs: £18 for the term, excluding 3rd May (Bank Hol week-end) and 24th and 31st May (Whit week).

Please bring £2 if you come to the Wednesday sessions - poor Lee has to earn a crust!

If you came last Wednesday, please bring an extra £2.00 next week.
