Like Fabio I have no idea who will start in goal, nor will I be announcing the team more than two hours before kick off. Unlike England though, we will be able to pass to each other, run, look lively, and have a shot on target. We will also be bringing our own match ball full of Waverton air, so we will know exactly how it will perform.
Please meet there by 9am at the latest as this is when we have been told the u14s section starts. We have to hand in team sheet by 8:30. We have no details of the kick off times yet. Suggest that you leave Chester by 7. We should be finished by 1pm. The tournament is one of the biggest in the West Midlands.
All girls have said they can make their own way there. However, if anyone wants to share please let me know. Kiera grandad has 3 spaces as does Caitlin's dad.
We'll try and set up the AFC Waverton Team HQ as soon as possible.
Please wear full Waverton kit and bring wet weather tops too. We should be finished by lunch but bring some food and a drink. Refreshments will be available we understand.
It is a 5 a side tournament and rules are different to those operating in the 7 a side Wallasey League. Notably:
- Only the goalkeeper is allowed in the area (it's a penalty if a defender goes in or goalkeepers ball if a striker goes in).
- Goalkeepers must stay in their area at all times (except at the end of the game of course)
- Goalkeepers must throw underarm only.
- No back passing to goalkeeper
- No corners - corners will thrown underarm
- Throw ins - underarm only
- No offsides
- No head height rules (that is kick it as high into the Birmingham sky as you want)
