Looking Good!

Heygarth United 0 AFC Waverton 7

The first pre season game for both teams saw Waverton come out on top with a convincing display at Eastham.

Waverton started brightly and Nicola gave the visitors the lead within the first few minutes. Olivia, playing on the right of midfield, was excellent in delivering a number of pinpoint crosses. Heygarth got back into the game although Ellie Mageean in defence was solid as always. Waverton should have added to the lead when presented with a series of corners towards the end of the first half. Kiera was unlucky not to get onto the score sheet with a shot that went just wide, and then Nicola hit the post. In the second half goals from Ellie Riste, another from Nicola, a hatrick from hot shot Caitlin and an own goal all added up to a great work out.

Cara who had come out of goal for the second half, played well alongside both Ellies in turn at the back. Kiera was solid in goal. Lily helped set up three of the goals, Laura played really well and Aimee was impressive at the back and in midfield.

This was particularly impressive being the first game, that only one training session had taken place and that the new team needed to gel. The girls were excellent and this is a great starting point for the new League season which kicks off formally next Saturday at Wallasey Wanderers with a 11:00 ko.

Thanks to Frank at Heygarth for organising the game and good luck to the Heygarth girls this season.

Details for next weeks game available on web this week . Training on Tuesday 5:30 at Waverton. See you there.

Who would be so daft to put petrol in a diesel car? Great day for the girls, not so good for the coach!
